A single is worth a thousand words. There are different forms of art. People express their ideas and stories differently. Some people write, others talk while others act. Another method is painting or even taking photos. From the picture, you can be able to tell some of the things that were in the artists mind and how it has been captured in the picture. Some tell stories through picture books. This article is on Learning language conventions picture book.

Students in between the ages of 1-13 can use picture books as a form of learning visual communication. Some books are purely pictorial while others are a combination of written and pictures. The words must, however, relate directly to the picture in order to bring out the message. The techniques used in picture books make certain that the audience the book is meant for, and the purpose of it is clear.

Pictures can result from combining various lines or blocks of different colors. The color used in a picture also tells a lot. A dim picture may represent low key emotion while brightly colored pictures may suggest a lot of joy. Using border lines suggest dynamic feelings while shading brings out a sense of calmness and gentleness.

As soon as the students are able to translate messages from pictures regularly. You can challenge them to find out the different techniques used in different pictures and what they suggest about the image. As they continue learning, translating messages comes easier and easier to them. Soon they are able to express their own thoughts and messages in the form of pictures.

A narrative can be expressed in different ways. One of those ways is a picture book. A child can be able to follow a story just by browsing through a book. The narrative is usually portrayed in three parts. The first part might start out well, but a conflict will eventually arise. The second part is where they try to solve the conflict only to lead to more complication. The final part is the climax where the conflict actually gets solved.

Just like in novels and films, symbolism can be expressed in a pictorial book. The presence of the sun and even the clear sky might seem to suggest happiness or hope. The appearance of dullness and gloomy weather may suggest a bad, day or occurrence of unpleasant effects in that particular scene or in the one that follows.

The form in which as story Is also presented tells a lot. A film may be presented in a series of flashbacks of things that happened before the main plot. This film may be a story of a person or a group of people looking back on their lives. A picture book can be presented in a set of collages. The style and organization affect the message put across visually.

The setting on which the picture book is based also tells a lot. For example, if a person wearing animal skin and had unkempt hair were to appear, you can tell just by looking that the setting is of a very long time ago. If the picture, however, includes a series of space ships or robot-like figures you can tell the message is based in the future.
