After a puppy has eaten, they will most likely want to go potty right after, so take them out right after their meals. You need to take your puppy out the last thing at night and also first thing in the morning. Get them on the same schedule when doing this so they know when it is time for a potty break.

Make sure that every member of the household will use the same phrase for when they are taking the puppy out for a potty break. This makes the puppy understand that that phrase means they have to go on a potty break.

To keep your puppy from possibly going potty in an out of sight place you must not rub their noses in where they went potty by mistake. They do not know what they have done wrong so rubbing their noses in it will not help get them potty trained.
