The Various Catholic Views Explained

By Brenda Warner

Catholicism is a major Christian denomination with over a billion followers worldwide. The church at Rome has taken a stance on major moral issues. Catholic views are inspired by scripture. They are usually arrived at after major meetings involving cardinals and bishops. Faithful are supposed to abide to these principles. Some perspectives of this Church are shared with other faiths while others are unique to the Roman Catholic. Abiding by these stipulations is the key to being a devout church member. Failure to follow the core issues may lead to excommunication.

As soon as the word Christianity is mentioned what immediately comes to mind is the Holy Bible. This sacred book is behind every major church issue. It is held as Supreme and the point of reference where all doubts are settled and all instructions obtained from. The accuracy of the Bible is something that a catholic cannot argue about. Having been inspired by The Divine, there is no way it can contain errors.

The moral compass of the catholic believer is the Ten Commandments. Abiding to these laws leads to a fruitful life that is in compliance with what The Creator wants and is in accordance with the basic laws of governments. These commandments have addressed many issues of day to day living and morality. People are required to love their Creator with all their hearts and also love their neighbors as they love themselves. Someone who loves his neighbor will not think of doing something bad to him.

Holy Trinity is a basic belief of Catholicism. The sign of the trinity is usually made after prayers. The Supreme Being exists in three forms. Each form plays an important role.

Sin and sinfulness is the reason why Adam and Eve were removed from the Garden of Eden. Every human that is born of a woman is born with original sin that has been inherited from the first generation of humans. This can only be removed by the act of baptism. In Catholicism, one is baptized by water being poured on one's head. When this act is being performed, the person being baptized has to totally renounce sin in the presence of a priest.

Everyone has fallen short of grace because of sins. Being made right again in the eyes of The Creator is done by pure grace and not any personal acts. No one can save himself but salvation is through the kindness of The Supreme. The whole affair is an act of faith. The forgiven person has to embrace repentance and live a life that exhibits a turning away from sin.

Sexual purity is an important issue in most Christian denominations. The faithful are required to avoid all kinds of sexual sin including adultery and lust. Sex must be confined to the marriage bed. Catholicism has greatly emphasized chastity. Leading a morally clean life is associated with earthly and heavenly benefits.

Churches are governed by doctrines that are based on the Holy Bible. There are consequences for disobedience and rewards for obedience. The path to obedience leads to earthly benefits and eternal rewards.
