Enterprise Architect TOGAF Training Options

By Deana Norton

Companies who want to increase efficiency and enhanced productivity turn to an architecture and methodology framework. It is known as The Open Group Architecture Forum, identified as TOGAF, and can be learned through Enterprise Architect TOGAF Training. They have the opportunity of signing on for training sessions that are useful, helpful, and sometimes necessary, for first-time users. They come away with the requisite knowledge to move on to applying what they have learned, all the while enhancing their credibility and effectiveness during the application process of the software. In short, TOGAF is of major benefit.

The Open Group Architecture Forum was first published in 1995 and was based on the US Department of Defense Technical Architecture Framework for Information Management (TAFIM). From there, there have been several successive versions released into the market. Most recently is TOGAF 9.1. The 9.1 version is the method and supporting resources used for developing an Enterprise Architecture. It can be used by any organization no matter where in the world they are, whether or not they are members of The Open Group. Of course, this is subject to licensing conditions.

There are several types of courses and programs for individuals who are interested in learning more about this framework. There are TOGAF 9 certification programs which adds credibility to the individuals when it comes to impressing potential employers. This can be achieved through a two-part certification after either a self-study course or an accredited TOGAF 9 Training Course.

The analyst using the program has several choices or roads to follow. Courses and programs are varied and together, they create a series to be followed. TOGAF 9 has a certification program for those interested or required by their employers. It also gives students more credibility that helps enhance job-seeking skills. More opportunities for a career will no doubt open up. You can master, for example, the two-part program following a self-study course, or even better, a TOGAF 9 training session.

The version 9.1 Level 1 and Level 2 course lasts for 4 days and is done in a classroom setting. It's very hands-on and covers the entire framework, even if you have no previous knowledge. In this sense, it's very suitable for beginners. Throughout the course, the students will be given real-life and practical situations to work around, thus helping them to learn the application procedures of the framework. After the course, there is an examination which will earn the student's the certification once passed.

It takes four days to complete a full course that entails level one and two. Hand-on experience and classroom instruction are the hallmarks. Graduates are ready to take on related jobs based on the software fundamentals, even with no prior knowledge. There are sections for beginners to advanced students so everyone has a role. Certification is granted upon completion of an examination.

A hybrid course is another alternative which takes place partly on line and combines the best of levels one and two. The basics are, of course, adequately covered, and are studied as the student is available - on their own time. When he or she is ready for the next level, a classroom setting is required. The certification exam follows.

Alternatively, if the individual already has prior working knowledge of the basics and wants to expand this with more detailed courses on terminologies and strategies, the Level 2 classroom course is the perfect course. Again, there is an exam after the program for Level 2 certification. Whatever the individual's needs are, there are training courses that will help both the student and the company achieve its goals.
