Ragdoll Kittens For Sale In Tennessee Get Prepared

By Jocelyn Davidson

Once you find out that baby cats are waiting you can't help but drop everything to rush out and get one. But there are some differences between dogs and cats and you might want to consider the following tips as you consider bringing home one of these Ragdoll kittens for sale in Tennessee.

Before getting a kitten, phone interview several veterinarians and take notes. They will likely disagree with the cat breeder but when you find a few who agree, set up an appointment to meet them and visually inspect the facility for cleanliness.

You now have a vet lined up and it's time to kitty proof your house. Cats love to investigate, and then reinvestigation later. So put good quality locks on cabinets doors. Make sure anything heavy is moved hear the floor and house plants are where kitty can't get to them. Most plants are poisonous to felines and better safe than sorry.

A litter box and food and water dishes are the most important items your cat will need. Make sure to get a litter box that is plenty big enough even if the kitty doesn't grow big. Keep it away from the food and water dishes. Glass, stainless steel and ceramic are best and avoid sudden food changes to prevent diarrhea.

A cat carrier will soon be your favorite protection device of all times. You certainly don't want your sweet little Ragdoll to get eaten alive by something big and gruesome. So, getting a pet carrier designed for cats is the perfect solution. Just set it up with soft bedding and dishes then leave it open for curiosity to handle the rest of the training for you.

Cats are prey driven and respond nicely to toys that move quickly, make squeaky noises and are soft and furry. There really isn't any need to spend a lot of money on toys when simple household items make perfectly good toys. Just make sure there are no small parts to get lodged in their throats.

Family introductions are not just other pets. People are a mystery to cats just as dogs and other creatures and fixtures. Allow the new one to take its time even if it means putting others up where they can't harm the new kitty. Especially keep dogs either on a leash, or safely confined so kitty can do the investigating as it sees fit.

Most cats do not like traveling and you need to provide for them at home if you go on vacation. Have someone in the family or good pet friend come tend the kitten if you must leave home without them. Attempting to carry them with you could prove disastrous.

Cats may be self-sufficient but they are nothing like dogs. Cats do well at home once they are familiar with it, and ignore those things that seem to think the cat is a toy. At least until the cat tires of it and shows them who is boss. A little kindness, understanding and patience in allowing your kitten to adjust at its own speed will succeed much better than ever trying to force a cat to do anything.
