Introducing The Art Of Alexander Koleszar

By Patty Goff

Inspiration came early to one artist and painter who grew up in Birmingham, Michigan. Alexander Koleszar developed his great talent for art and painting beginning at age two. Since age 11, the artist has created over thirty different oil paintings on canvas along with a number of drawings. Many of which have now been acquired by collectors and galleries.

While the artist has been focused on his painting career since childhood, it was also during childhood in which the hobby caused Alexander a great deal of grief. Children in the neighborhood would often bully and tease him about the tools and tricks used in painting. If this was not difficult enough, many of his real friends then passed during the AIDs epidemic of the early 1980s.

In childhood, the artist experienced a great deal of bullying at the hands of other children. Later, as an adult he lost a number of friends during the AIDs crisis and epidemic of the 1980s. While there are now some vaccines and treatments available, none had yet been developed during the early onset of the syndrome.

After recuperating from a long illness, and the loss of friends, the painter began working passionately on new works. Many of these works dealing with issues surrounding the AIDs crisis, and the lack of care in the early 1980s before a cure or vaccine could be established. While this is still the case, there are now drugs which can help both HIV and AIDs patients treat, what are often, life debilitating symptoms with various medications and treatments.

One reason Alexander decided to wait on becoming actively involved with collectors was because there was another interest. As the artist always had a love for drawing and classical painting, Koleszar spent a few years learning from and studying with two well known artists. One these artists, a classical painter, and the other a well known sketch artist.

Regardless of this immediate and overwhelming interests, the painter decided to refocus on learning the details of classical painting and drawing techniques. At this point and time, Koleszar left his own inspiration behind and worked with a well known classical painter as well as a well known drawing instructor. Both of which provided the artist with a great deal of knowledge and skill with regards to these alternate art forms.

Although the artist has exhibited art in the past, it was not until these new exhibits that the artist gained ground as "New and Emerging Artist, " which is often the first step to success for artists, poets, writers and others who work in these genres. While it is often easy to enter a piece in contests or shows, acceptance is often fare more difficult. Although, for those who have had any past experience, it can often be a great deal easier as long as one has a piece the judges and jury feel has a chance against other competition.

It was at this point, collectors from Europe and the United States began collecting the many drawings and paintings which the artist had on exhibit. The work attracted collectors with the artist notable fusion of surrealism and realism. Some of these collectors have suggested the work also portrays a sense of inspiration from the likes of Dali and Magritte, two of the most well known painters of all time.
