Funny Little Jumping Spiders For Sale

There are more than five thousand of jumping spider species. They belong to a family of Arachnids called Salticidae, and can be found just about anywhere on the world. They have distinctive looks, thanks to their large pair of eyes spaced in front, and other three pairs aside. These funny little creatures can jump over really large distances. As all other spiders, they also have eight pairs of eyes, spaced on their cephalothorax. The especially large, frontally spaced central pair of eyes make them easily recognizable. Thanks to these large eyes, and the additional three pairs aside, they have an excellent eyesight, and can easily spot their prey, wherever it is. Their legs aren't very long, but just before taking a jump, they become longer, thanks to increased blood pressure in them.

They make very interesting pets, because they are really friendly. If you look at your spider, it will look back at you, and follow you with its large and distinctive eyes wherever you go. He will even jump on your finger. Some species are particularly attractive, vividly colored and haired. These spiders are active during the day, and that's why their colors are so interesting. If the weather is bad, they will hide.

This little spider is really good hunter. When it spots its prey, it will get closer and jump on it, grabbing it with its jaws. Before taking a jump, it will release a lifeline. In case it miss its prey, it won't fall down, thanks to that tiny lifeline. These special species don't make webs. Some species feed on other spiders, and some eat other insects.

Females are larger, but males have more interesting colors. Their front legs are shorter, but often haired and vividly colored. They use them in their courting rituals, waving with them, to make their females see how incredibly powerful they are. When it works, they mate. Females lay their eggs into silk made shelters, taking very good care of them.

Jumping spider's body consist of two parts, a cephalothorax and abdomen. Cephalothorax is actually a fusion of its head and thorax, and all eight legs are attached to it. Eyes are spaced on the frontal body region. The largest pair is in the middle, with another smaller eye on each side, and other two pairs are beside. Thanks to these characteristic eyes you can instantly recognize jumpers.

Their lifespan is about one year. Some species live two to three years, and some live in colder climates and hibernate, and they can live longer thanks to that. They don't make webs, but they do make tiny little silk chambers to hide in them during nights. These chambers are usually attached to some plant, or somewhere behind rocks.

Molting is a special process every spider needs to go through during its growing up period. Five or six times, it needs to shed its skin, all at once. When they sleep, hibernate or molt, they hide in their silk chambers. In the meantime, they jump around and hunt insect, being very useful, charming and attractive.
