3 Activities for Fun in the Sun
3 Busy-Bags = Busy 3 Year Old
The winter season is behind us and summer is finally upon us!
Race Car and Race Track
1. Drawing and painting with chalk can be very exciting for your little one!
* Markers
You can teach your child how to draw numbers, shapes and scenery by letting them trace what you draw.
* One colored page of construction paper
You can also trace handprints and footprints to create a trail. If your child likes to paint, dissolve the chalk in a bucket of water, grab a paint brush from the garage and start painting.
* Markers
What your child learns: The possibilities are endless with chalk.
Contents for Crayons and Post-its include:
Inform your child what you are drawing and its characteristics, such as, a triangle has three sides.
* One quart baggie
Running is an excellent way for children to get exercise, remain fit, and burn energy. While playing catch, squeeze out the water and get it wet by dipping into a bucket of water. Be sure to stay cool and hydrated while under the hot summer sun!
*Crayons
3. Children love to play in the dirt and get dirty! Why not plant a garden?
Sorting Colored Craft Sticks
Have fun planting seeds of the child's choice and they'll love watching their plants grow over the summer.
* One quart baggie
What your child learns: Watching plants grow from a tiny seed can be fascinating for your child.
You and your child can color the craft sticks with a marker or buy colored craft sticks, then ask your child to sort them by color. A variation for older children is to number the sticks and sort in numerical order. Your child may also want to build with the craft sticks and that's okay!
Each activity can be drawn out or as simple as you wish.
Busy-bags are great to allow you time to catch up on a task while your child does a fun and calm activity. Encourage your child to use their creativity and imagination while playing with their busy-bags. Let your child choose the contents of the busy-bags such as the color of paper and crayons, or which bag they would like to play with. You may find you have more fun than them with the busy-bags!
That's okay because you are spending quality time together playing, teaching, and learning!
Foam Stickers on Construction Paper: Talk about what the stickers are, have your child arrange them a certain way, or just let them put the stickers all over the paper!
