This collar, often called the cone of shame, tends to be a staple for pets that have just undergone surgery or has been into a situation where they got wounded. There is a good chance that pets will end up licking their wounds open if they are just left to their own devices. So, owners have to put in a foot somewhere to prevent his from happening. Then, you can easily pick the one that would work best for your pet.

A good choice would be to use neck pillows, the ones that are being blown up. These are the same ones that may passengers tend to use to cushion their neck to avoid straining it too much in a long flight. To use this, you are going to need to have some sort of fastener so when you tuck it in the neck of your pet, it stays in place.

There are stuff that are made of paper too. These are very popular among a lot of people especially since they do not have to find some fancy stuff that they can use for the same purpose. It is advised that you go for a very durable paper though. Then, they would not easily get damaged especially if the pet has a tendency to be a little too hyperactive.

You may chose to bandage the area where he is wounded too. Covering the entire area will help protect the wound. Then, even when the pet gets to start licking, he will not be able to risk opening the wound since it is properly covered and protected.
