Considering Shichon Teddy Bear Puppies For Sale

By Anita Ortega

When you are looking for a designer puppy that will be loyal and lovable there are many options to consider. Designer dogs are mixed breed animals that are bred to bring out the best aspects of two or more breeds to create an irresistible look and demeanor in a pet. While seeking your perfect pet you may want to look into the Shichon Teddy Bear puppies for sale.

Known for their intelligence and the ease of training they have proven themselves to be loyal and loving companions for large or small families. They are a mix of Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise parents. Both of these breeds are known for their gentle loving demeanor and loyalty towards their owners. They seem eager to please and are easily trained for living indoors.

In addition to their sweet dispositions the dogs are said to be hypoallergenic because their coats are hair rather than fur like most dogs. They do not shed and do not have the dander that causes allergic reactions in many people. Their size makes them good candidates for apartment dwellers, seniors and children.

These are indoor dogs and do not fare well if kept outside. They get along with younger children because they react better to rough treatment should the child become overly exuberant. Another feature that pleases seniors is that they can get ample exercise by themselves and truly enjoy spending time with their humans doing nothing for hours.

These dogs do require daily maintenance such as brushing. Because their hair never stops growing they can become matted if not brushed and groomed regularly. They will also need bathing at least twice a month to keep their coats fluffy and glossy. Most owners begin the brushing and bathing processes when the pup is young because it creates a routine that the dog learns to enjoy.

Breeders of these dogs are very proud of them and usually house them inside when they are born. They keep them until they are eight to ten weeks old and most socialize them as they mature to the point of weaning. During this time some breeders will have the dew claws removed from the front legs. This is not a "must do" action but can diminish the possibility of scratches to humans and injury to the dog if hooked and torn from the leg later in life.

Prior to delivery of the puppy to its new forever home most breeders will make sure they have all of their puppy shots and have them wormed to assure a healthy puppy is delivered. The puppy will also have a veterinarians report stating that it passed a complete physical examination. It is the responsibility of the new owner to finish the shot process to ensure continued good health.

If you are looking for a small, loving, happy little dog for yourself or your family this puppy may be an excellent breed to look into. They have reputations for being smart and energetic as well as perfect companions for seniors or small children. This dog can blend seamlessly into any family whether large or small with or without other animals present.
